2 Marijuana Stocks To Watch: Is Investing Long Term The Best Option?
The short term in the cannabis industry is arguably a very difficult time frame for investors. In the past three weeks, we have seen prices shoot down by more than 40% for some of the largest marijuana stocks in the industry. This, however, should not dissuade investors as it appears to be the short term result of the coronavirus. One of the key things to note about investing in cannabis is that the market is subject to see extreme growth in the next few years. Some estimates have shown that the cannabis market could reach as high as $40-70 billion within the next decade. [Read More] Marijuana Stocks To Watch: What’s Up With This Canadian Company? Edible Companies Could Be the Next Big Pot Stock Trend
Pot stocks have been dominated by the largest growers in the industry. Well then companies can be solid investments, there are other areas of the cannabis industry worth watching closely. The edibles industry is one that has been slowly taking off right under many investor’s noses. This is especially true in the Canadian market where edibles and concentrates only became legal a few months ago. Because of this, many popular cannabis companies have been scrambling to get a product to the country. There are only a few marijuana stocks with targets set on the edibles market. [Read More] Are Marijuana Stocks On Their Way Back Up In The Market? Is The Time To Buy Marijuana Stocks Now? Most of the time, these companies operate in several areas of the marijuana market, but they also happen to produce edibles as well. 2 Marijuana Stocks To Watch During The Coronavirus Pandemic
Marijuana stocks have without a doubt, taken a beating these last few months. Around six months ago, we saw some issues such as supply bottlenecks and the rising black market, both take their respective tolls on pot stock prices. Since that time, the largest catalyst to cannabis stocks has been the coronavirus. We can’t say that cannabis is the only industry being hit right now as the coronavirus has been wreaking havoc across all world markets. In Midst of Coronavirus Outbreak, Cannabis Businesses Are Declared ‘Essential’
Editor's note: This story was last updated March 26 to reflect responses from Delaware and Louisiana. As COVID-19 continues permeating all aspects of daily life, a growing number of municipalities in the U.S. are opting to impose quarantine mandates and shut down all non-essential businesses to slow the virus spreading. Some entities, like police departments and pharmacies, are obvious in their need to remain open. But the shutdowns have prompted perhaps an unexpected question amid the coronavirus chaos: Are medical marijuana operations considered “essential” in this new public arena? For many areas across the U.S., the answer is a resounding “yes.”Over in San Francisco, though, that wasn’t always the case. All seven counties in the Bay Area of California implemented a shelter-in-place order March 16. The order, which is in place until at least April 7, included a list of essential services that could remain open but left room for interpretation regarding other businesses, including... How COVID-19 Is Impacting Public Cannabis Companies
Near-Term Operational ImpactLike all other businesses, the cannabis industry is having to quickly adjust. The good news is that no states, so far, have shut down cannabis operators, as they have been deemed as essential service providers, like drug stores. We recently interviewed Kim Rivers , CEO of Trulieve, the dominant medical cannabis company in Florida with 45 dispensaries. She detailed the steps that the company has taken to keep customers and employees safe, including scanning temperatures of employees when they arrive and immediately sending workers home if they aren’t feeling well. The company has also offered free delivery to patients who are 65 or older and is piloting a mobile drive-up program for all patients.A few public companies have commented on their operations, including Cresco Labs, which issued a press release describing its response, including heightened sanitation measures and an effort to drive traffic to online ordering. Marijuana Stocks May See A Revenue Boost Due To Cannabis Deliveries
The coronavirus has had many different effects on marijuana stocks . In only a matter of weeks, the world has gone into isolation with museums, monuments and cities altogether being all but shut down. The cannabis industry has felt the blunt effects of this virus wholly. In only a short period of time, we have seen many billions lost in value across the board. And, this is not just with pot stocks . It seems as though the whole stock market is struggling to cope with this worldwide event. But, with any large event, comes a new beginning once it is all over. The end of this may not be in sight right now, but it does look like the world is beginning to come to grips with our current reality. [Read More] Are These Marijuana Stocks Going To Be De-Listed? What Can These Two Pot Stocks Offer After Market Volatility Slows Down?
Obviously, now is a hard time to pick any pot stocks to buy . But, amidst the most recent volatility, comes a new strategy to use for the future of cannabis investing. Currently, the best strategy is simply to refine how we invest as there are several issues in the cannabis industry that make it difficult to make the right call. Amidst these issues are regulatory worries, supply issues, and the threat of the black market. All of this has occurred simultaneously alongside extreme selloffs from coronavirus related issues. As a result of all of these factors, many of the most prominent marijuana stocks have reached lower levels than ever before. With this, however, comes a time when we can begin to search for value. Warren Buffett has stated that his investing strategy is to buy when prices are low, and then keep buying as they get lower. This seems to be quite true for pot stocks as future projections are not getting any lower. Some estimates have shown that the cannabis market could... Joe Caltabiano Explains Decision to Resign from Cresco Labs
On March 2, Cresco Labs co-founder Joe Caltabiano announced that he had resigned from his role as president effective immediately, a decision that he says he had been considering and discussing with the Cresco team for a few weeks.Caltabiano co-founded the Chicago-based multi-state operator in 2013, and said it is time for him to “step back and look at some opportunities that I’ve always wanted to pursue,” as his skillsets no longer align with Cresco’s future needs.“My skills were very tied to the early success of the organization and building it and running into brick walls and overcoming obstacles,” Caltabiano said in an interview with Cannabis Business Times. “When you’re starting out in a start-up company, it is growth at all costs. You make a lot of decisions on how to drive growth within the organization, and as a company matures, it starts being less about growth and more about return on invested capital and how do you maximize dollars for your shareholders in the long-run.
