Canadian cannabis stocks hide compensation consultant fees
Authored by: Teri Buhl Canadian cannabis company CEOs have been making big pay packages over the last few years coinciding with net losses. But, they have not been disclosing details required by Canadian law about who they employ to come up with the pay formulas and how much these consultants are paid. A review of Canadian public filings by Cannabis Law Report has found at least three publicly traded companies who have failed to be transparent in telling shareholders how much they were actually paying their executives. It appears that some packages could be described as “over-compensation” and were / are making some individuals very wealthy. Compensation consultants are often required by boards of publicly traded companies to enable an independent outside party to come up with a realistic approach to how the CEO and also key management are compensated thus stopping companies using internal resources to pull any old figure or package out of thin air. Cannabis operations that have grown... Marijuana Stocks Vs The Coronavirus
The cannabis industry is comprised of several different subsections that all hold their own inherent values. Although the majority of the market has gone through substantial troubles in the past few weeks due to the coronavirus, some areas of the industry have higher correlations with volatility than others. It seems as though we can break down the cannabis industry into three different sub-sections. First, we have the pure-play pot stocks . These companies are in the business of producing as much cannabis as they can to help supply the various global markets with marijuana. [Read More] Are There Any Pot Stocks to Watch Right Now? Which Marijuana Stocks Will Survive The Coronavirus? Second, we have the extraction and retail marijuana stocks . These two different areas occupy a relatively similar area of the market. On one hand, extraction companies work by producing extracts for both retail sales and on a contracted basis. Retail companies work by opening large amounts of dispensaries... The Cannabis Industry Has an Increase in Product Demand
The coronavirus has done a lot of not so great things for the cannabis industry . But, an unexpected positive of this virus is the rise in demand that we have seen in the past two weeks. This increase in demand can be attributed to the increase in the public staying home. The more people who are at home with nothing to do, the more weed they will smoke. Well, we have yet to see this increase in demand fully show itself in stock prices. Although, during the trading day on Thursday, March 19th, we did see quite a bit of positive momentum in the most popular marijuana stocks . [Read More] Will Marijuana Stocks Get A Fresh Start From The Coronavirus Are These Marijuana Stocks Going To Be De-Listed? One analyst stated that he has seen demand for cannabis “noticeably increase” in the past month or so. Trying to play out the COVID crisis ?!
I've been contemplating on multiple ways to either protect myself or to set myself off from this pandemic. Thought of selling off my weedstocks and once I see a clear reversal... buy all back in... (APHA, CL, IAN and OGI) Keep weedstocks (don't touch) and keep average the hell down... I believe in the industry so why not buy it on sales... Keep weedstocks... and diversify by adding more of blue chip stocks (APPL, MSFT, DIS, GOOGL) So, far I'm inclined on the second option... but if I had enough capital or enough to put into per week... it would be number 3 since blue chip stocks are at an extreme discount and will most likely continue... Once they rebound... I don't see how weedstocks... follow along... the market will pour their $$$ into those stocks... while leaving weedstocks behind... and even before the crisis... weedstocks were being weedstocks... How are you guys playing out this crisis being involved in weedstocks and other stocks? submitted by /u/goatmaster95 [link] [comments] (Stocks)

Aphria Stock a ‘Hold’ Says Analyst, Sees Upside in Price
Aphria stock is trading down today despite being offered a ‘hold’ rating by Stifel analyst W. Andrew Carter, who sees an 18% upside in value with a price target of $4.50. Analysts on the Fence In a note to investors, Carter writes that Aphria Inc’s (TSX:APHA) (NYSE:APHA) revenue growth and strong balance sheet underpins the rating, balanced by the bank’s outlook for the business to scale and offer margins much like other consumer packaged goods companies. Stifel also sees the potential for 89% cumulative annual growth from the firm’s cannabis operations over the next two years ... Over the past months, Aphria Inc (TSX:APHA) (NYSE:APHA) has emerged as one of the better-performing companies in the cannabis space. Canadian Cannabis Supply Bottle Neck
Last week one of the subjects we touched on was the perception of oversupply in the cannabis market and the reality that it’s a bit more complex than companies overgrowing. One of the most important things to keep track of with regards to the Canadian LP and the Marijuana Stock market is not just the supply of cannabis, but the ability to bring that dried flower and finished product to market. To understand why things are the way they are currently we must first understand what the initial goals for Canadian legalization were and the issues that brought us to this point. Recreational Cannabis was meant to do two things; Show the progressive nature of Canada & Trudeaus government while simultaneously killing the black market that currently thrives within the country. Health Canada since the beginning has been notoriously slow with the issuance of licenses in Canada to cultivate which in the beginning was a good thing for investors that found early entrants into the sector. As of... (Canada, Cannabis, Colorado, Facilities, Growers, Investments, Investors, Legalization, Recreational, Regulations, Stocks, United States, Dispensaries, Recreational Cannabis, Cultivation)

Canopy Lays Off 500, Closes Two Facilities: BTD?
Unless you haven’t been following the news flow tonight or the twitter rants of a certain Bruiser who I must give credit to, then you may already know that Canopy Growth ($CGC $Weed.v) has given pink slips to 500 workers in two of their Tweed Facilities. The two facilities in question, representing roughly one million square feet of production space are the Delta and Aldergrove in B.C. While it sucks that hardworking people lost their jobs we have to look at this from a business standpoint. No this isn’t the capitalist CannaBro “profit over people” type rant, it’s a rationalization of cut 13% to save the other 87% of workers, but please send hate mail to Wolf@marijuanastocks.com if u feel sour. Canopy currently employs about 3,000 people, if for argument’s sake we say each of those people make $1,000 a week on average that’s $3m payroll a week, $12m a month, $150M a year. These numbers matter, so saving eight figures in payroll alone is important as it can be allocated towards... The Future of Cannabis is All About Delivery (APHA, MMNFF, SGMD, UBER, ACB, TLRY, GRUB, AMZN)
As the Cannabis space continues to mature as a legitimate commercial marketplace, there are a number of dynamics we can expect to appear and change the game. One, in particular, seems likely to offer investors a big opportunity: Delivery. With mobile ordering, real-time geospatial tracking, and sophisticated logistical processes in place, developed in industries like supply chain management and food distribution, the infrastructure and knowledge capital is already developed for transportation into other industries for efficient deployment. And newly emerging consumer growth markets are the most obvious implementation. Cannabis is already huge and it’s going to get a whole lot bigger as the legal obstacles are inexorably toppled over coming quarters and years. It’s just a matter of time before millions of people will be going to their mobile phones and tapping a pot-leaf symbol to open up an app and order some weed. But there’s three ways it might go: Current leading players in the... Open Discussion - Is pot a profitable business in Canada?
The big question for everyone is surrounding profitability around the current set up of pot. If you view the current set-up as unprofitable then why even invest in the market right now? Aphria as far as I’m concerned is a unicorn in the space. There are few in the industry able to show positive results. Bankruptcy isn’t a pretty picture and it will mean each company will have to re-apply to become a pot producer. Effective immediately once the claim is made all licenses are lost. Who are your favourite picks to weather the storm with limited amount of debts? The better question is are you familiar with your companies debt levels? If not, I suggest you go on SEDAR. I’m a fan of a couple companies at these levels like: - APHA (GOAT of CDN pot) - WMD (50 mill cash plus branding/medical) - LIB (risky - no debt) Who are you plays and explain why! submitted by /u/OMG-its-in [link] [comments] (Branding, Canada)

Agriculture Technology Enabling Cannabis Cultivation in South America
The cannabis industry is increasingly going global as cultivators explore the benefits of new growing locations. As a leader in the adoption of agribusiness technologies, South America is becoming a major draw for emerging companies seeking the optimal cultivation environment. As cannabis cultivators move into new territories, many are taking into account the unique conditions and challenges presented by the areas, including climate, infrastructure and more. Of all the elements that can influence crop production, water is one of the most critical when it comes to the health and quality of the resulting crop. Quality cannabis cultivation is absolutely dependent on efficient and reliable irrigation, particularly in hotter and drier climates. Due to its unique climate, South America can be ideal for companies looking globally for low cost cannabis operations; however, the continent comes with its own set of considerations.
